The Local Galaxy Group and Galactic Neighborhood Observing Guide is designed for detailed visual and/or CCD observation of objects within approximately 60 million light years. Most of the galaxies, clusters and clouds in this guide are visually accessible with a 10-12-inch telescope. Some of the more distant, fainter objects will be a challenge for visual observers but for CCD observers using an 8-inch or larger telescope, should be attainable.

This observing guide is not for the beginner but is not out of reach for the average dedicated amateur observer.
