Observing Program Announcement: Additional Volunteer Coordinator Needed.

An additional Observing Program Coordinator is needed.  Specifically: Solar System Observing Program.

We will be using our standard process in February to select coordinators.  If you would are willing and able to participate in your League as an Observing Program Coordinator, we would like to hear from you. Please send an email to Aaron Clevenson (Observing Program Director) at aaron@clevenson.org, includeing your phone number and the best times to call you.  We will send you a copy of the job description and include you on the list.  In February we will contact the candidates and conduct the interviews.

One of the major benefits of being an Astronomical League member is access to the Observing Programs and Awards.  From time to time, there are needs for new Coordinators, and we are now looking for a few new ones.  Specifically, Arp Peculiar Galaxies (Northern and Southern), Galaxy Groups and Clusters, and Local and Galaxy Group and Neighborhood need new coordinators.

Observing Program Announcement: NASA Observing Challenge – Mercury Transit, due by 12/11

In conjunction with NASA we are commemorating the Mercury Transit with a NASA Special Observing Challenge.  For more information check out the NASA Observing Challenge website:  https://test.astroleague.org//programs/nasa-observing-challenges-special-awards-introduction

This is an electronic certificate that is emailed to those who meet the requirements.  The deadline for submission is 12/11/2019.  You do NOT need to be a member of the Astronomical League to earn this certificate.

Note:  There is also an Astronomical League Special Observing Award.  This is a pin and certificate that can be earned by Astronomical League members.  Check out the requirements on the web page:  https://test.astroleague.org//PlanetaryTransit_Venus2012
