VAT, GST, import duties, and other taxes required by your Country or Customs Department are NOT included in purchases made on the League Sales website and are your responsibility.

What does the Astronomical League offer you, as a Member-at-Large?

But the most important benefit is that you join a national organization of amateur astronomers. You become part of a group that promotes observing, research, and the love of the sky. You have the opportunity to earn awards for your observing skills and learn more about what other amateurs are doing through our quarterly magazine, the Reflector.

When you join, you will receive our Member-at-Large membership packet. In this packet, you will receive:

• One of our great observing guides (see below for choices);
• The Astronomical League Observing Award Brochure;
• AstroNotes #1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18 & 25;
• The current issue of the Reflector;
• A letter of Welcome to the MAL program;
• Membership Card;

Please note that due to the nature of this item, Member-at-Large membership materials take slightly longer to ship. Normally they will be shipped in approximately 2-3 weeks.

Your membership card could be mailed separately and take approximately 2 additional weeks to arrive.

IMPORTANT NOTE about VAT/GST and DUTIES:

Please note that shipping does NOT include your country’ required VAT/GST and duty taxes, and you will be responsible for paying these taxes to your country’ postal service or customs department prior to your package being delivered.Your country may also add an additional surcharge to cover their handling and processing fees for collecting your VAT and duty taxes.

Please also note that while non-USA MAL customers do not pay shipping and can choose to receive a free book, the customs paperwork (commercial invoice) must reflect the retail value of the book, and the shipping costs will be known to the carrier. Therefore, it is our current understanding that VAT/GST and duties will need to be collected on the cost of the book plus shipping costs prior to the package being delivered, and that the customer will be responsible for paying these VAT/GST taxes and any applicable duties to their country’ postal carrier or customs department.

Unfortunately, the Astronomical League currently does not have the resources to collect these VAT/GST taxes or duties from you when you place your order. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are working to find a solution but it may be months away.
