Suit up and join Team TCM Aerospace!
The Children’s Museum in West Hartford, CT celebrates Astronomy Day 2019 on Saturday, May 11 by inviting you to TCM Aerospace Research and Development Labs. Families and children become team members, and will learn about Earth and space concepts, through fun, hands-on NASA-related Explore Science activity stations. Children and their families are Mission Engineers, and need to review a series of space-based experiments in order to help decide what should go into the payload of a special rocket launch. Once all the tasks are completed, get ready to launch a rocket, all on your own. Space themed activities, special guests, and a lot of fun awaits you!

Astronomy and space-oriented organizations from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area will gather at the California Academy of Sciences from 10am-4pm to share their love of stargazing. Museum visitors will discover a wide range of family-friendly activities geared toward exploring the wonders of the night sky, from discovering local observatories or learning how to grind a telescope mirror, finding out where to see real space program artifacts, looking at meteorites, or trying out new, high-tech ways to explore the heavens. Students from local colleges and universities will be happy to discuss their educational programs. Weather-permitting, volunteers will guide safe solar and lunar observing from the deck of the Academy’s Living Roof.

Explore the cosmos on Saturday, May 11, and celebrate National Astronomy Day with the North Museum of Nature and Science. From 11 am to 4 pm, participate in family-friendly space-themed activities and daytime observing of the sun and the moon. Discover the wonders of the universe with our numerous presentations by members of local astronomy clubs and/or with a planetarium show in South Central Pennsylvania’s largest planetarium, the SciDome Theater. Take advantage of the opportunity to interact with Lancaster’s own NASA Solar System Ambassador Axel Diaz, and amateur astronomers from local astronomy clubs; the Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County and the York County Astronomical Society. In the evening, three nearby parks will be offering the opportunity to observe the sky through telescopes. Specifically, stargazing (weather permitting) will take place at the Joseph R. Grundy Observatory at Franklin & Marshall College campus, Clayton Road from 8:30-10:30pm; John Rudy County Park Observatory, 400 Mundis Race Road, York, PA with the York County Astronomical Society from 8:00-10:00pm; and at Muddy Run Observatory, 172 Bethesda Church Rd. West, Holtwood, PA , with the Rittenhouse Astronomical Society from 7:00-10:30pm.

Directions: Travel north from Kanab on US 89 to Mt. Carmel Junction and turn left onto UT Hwy 9. Drive 9 miles to Zion Mountain Ranch and Cordwood Restaurant on the left side of the road. Astronomical telescopes will be set up for viewing just outside the main lodge.
