Family Skywatch

Come and have a look at magnificent astronomical objects through our many telescopes. We have an observatory building to accommodate our ever increasing number of guests. Use our newly refurbished primary dome instrument, a 16 primary diameter mirror Cassegrain telescope. Open to the public! This is an excellent family outing. It is educational. It gets the kids outdoors and is free for all. This event is canceled in the event of bad weather, including cloudy skies. Call 217-356-2567 if the weather is iffy to inquire about cancellation. Family Skywatches are held the Saturday closest to the 1st quarter moon. Take I57 south to Exit 229 which is Monticello Road. Turn Right onto Monticello Road and go 1.5 miles West. Turn Left onto County Road 700 E and proceed 1/2 mile South to the Observatory.
All public viewing sessions are free (donations are accepted) and cancelled in the event of cloudy weather. Click on events calendar https://cuas.org/calendar/ for the date of the next session.
