Astronomy Day at the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco
Astronomy and space-oriented organizations from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area will gather at the California Academy of Sciences from 10am-4pm to share their love of stargazing. Museum visitors will discover a wide range of family-friendly activities geared toward exploring the wonders of the night sky, from discovering local observatories or learning how to grind a telescope mirror, finding out where to see real space program artifacts, looking at meteorites, or trying out new, high-tech ways to explore the heavens. Students from local colleges and universities will be happy to discuss their educational programs. Weather-permitting, volunteers will guide safe solar and lunar observing from the deck of the Academy’s Living Roof.
