Oil Region Astronomical Society AstroBlast
Come join The Oil Region Astronomical Society in Western Pennsylvania, and other regional amateur astronomers for the 2019 AstroBlast convention! The dates for this year’s AstroBlast will be from the evening of Tuesday, August 27th, to noon on Monday, September 2nd (Labor Day Weekend).
This will be the second year that the new ORAS observatory, located at a dark-sky site in southeastern Venango County, PA, will be fully operational. Our observatory features a 30″ f/3 Starstructure telescope, a Celestron 14″ SCT GEM pier-mounted telescope, and a Meade 14″LX200 alt/az tripod mounted telescope, all under a roll-off roof.
Pre-registration is available on line by using PayPal, up until midnight on August 25. To pre-register, visit our website at http://www.oras.org. Attendees may also register during the event, for a slightly higher fee.
We will have a full schedule of speakers on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, as well as some of our traditional AstroBlast activities, such as a swap meet, doorprize raffle, and a Saturday evening pizza party!
In addition to the details here, please visit the Oil Region Astronomical Society’s website for further information about the convention and new observatory.
